The Chinatown Tour (thechinatowntour.nl) is a personal hobby project documenting a mission to visit every Asian restaurant in Chinatown, Den Haag. The site is operated by Yannik Vaessen, reachable at contact@thechinatowntour.nl.

For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Yannik Vaessen is the data controller.

This site does not collect any personal data from visitors. You can browse all restaurant pages, scores, and reviews without creating an account or providing any information.

The only accounts that exist on this site are three internal accounts used by the people running the project. No public registration is possible.

For those three accounts, we store:

• A username and encrypted password
• Restaurant ratings and review notes submitted by the account holder

This data is used solely to power the rating and review functionality. It is not shared with third parties.

This site currently uses no tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.

If you are logged in as one of the three internal users, a session cookie is set to keep you authenticated. This cookie:

• Is strictly necessary for the login function to work
• Contains no personal information beyond a session identifier
• Is deleted when you close your browser or log out
• Is not used for tracking or analytics purposes

Because no non-essential cookies are used, we do not require a cookie consent banner for visitors.

The site uses OpenStreetMap to display restaurant locations on the map. OpenStreetMap is open-source and does not track visitors. See OpenStreetMap's privacy policy for details.

The site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may process basic server log data (such as IP addresses and request timestamps) as part of hosting infrastructure. This is governed by Vercel's privacy policy.

As a resident of the European Union, you have the following rights regarding personal data:

• Right of access — you can request a copy of any data we hold about you
• Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your data
• Right to object — you can object to how we process your data

Since this site does not collect data from visitors, these rights are primarily relevant to the three internal account holders. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@thechinatowntour.nl.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority: Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Restaurant ratings and review data are kept for as long as the site is active. Internal account data is deleted upon request or if the site is taken offline.

If we add analytics, advertising, or other data-collecting features in the future, this policy will be updated before those features go live. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
